DriveCliq cables for extremely small radii and long travels now with 300V UL certification

The new chainflex® PUR measuring system cable CF113.028.D in accordance with DriveCliq-Standard has now also been approved for 300V UL.

Due to the new cables with 300V UL certification for small radii and long travels in e-chains, the user can now lay DriveCliq cables in an energy supply system directly next to cables with a higher voltage level (e.g. motor cables). This offers immediate savings potential in terms of installation space and design.
Order directly now
UL means "Underwriters Laboratories" and is an independent organisation in the USA. This organisation tests various products for their safety. With regard to cables, UL stipulates that all cables with different voltage classes in one cable guide must always be laid mechanically separated from one another. With the new 300V DriveCliq cable from chainflex, the significant additional effort can now be dispensed with. This can be a tremendous advantage in constricted applications such as those in machine tools.

CF DriveCliq with 300V UL

300V instead of 30V ... or: which voltage levels are available with UL?

UL has the voltage levels 30V, 300V, 600V and 1000V in industrial environments. Thereby each level is predefined by the application.  With regard to fire protection, the safety requirements in the country of origin of UL, the USA, are much stricter than ours.  Only appropriately tested products are awarded the UL verification mark. In tests, specifications for fire protection requirements or wall thicknesses are verified. Only those who meet these versatile requirements will receive the UL Style for their product.

For energy supply systems, UL stipulates that all cables with different voltage classes and lying side by side must always be mechanically separated from each other. Of course, meeting these standards involves a lot of effort and above all costs. If all cables have the same voltage level, the cables can be laid side by side without this mechanical separation. This makes processing easier and saves enormous costs.

So the different voltage classifications of UL are decisive, because the new DriveCliq cables with the new UL Style can now be laid directly next to the other cables.

Cost down, life up with the chainflex price check for your DriveCliq system

Reduce costs with the chainflex price check and/or increase the service life of your application with DriveCliq cables: we are able to supply you with a large selection of different mechanical qualities - from an electrical point of view, these DriveCliq cables are interchangeable 1 : 1. Between the best price and the best technology, you can find many other cable qualities.

We can therefore always offer you the very best price/performance ratio for your application, depending on the requirements: with/without oil, long/short travel, large/small bend radius, etc. All DriveCliq cables are tested in the chainflex laboratory and come with a 36-month guarantee.

News Introduction by Rainer Rössel, Head of Business Unit chainflex cables

UL verified: igus is the first company in Europe to obtain confirmation that it keeps the promises of its brand

For many years, the technical requirements for cable guidance systems have been continually increasing. Core ruptures, jacket abrasion and corkscrews are the result. igus has risen to the challenge and developed cables that can withstand high mechanical stress chainflex cables.

In 2020, as a consistent continuation of this technological claim, igus has its brand promise for chainflex cables validated by an external body. In a complex certification process, the US "Underwriters Laboratories" institute, confirmed the accuracy of the "igus® 36-month chainflex® cable guarantee and service life calculator based on two billion test cycles per year" promise. This makes igus the first company in Europe to have the veracity of its brand promises confirmed by an internationally recognised testing institution.

DriveCliq cables in practice

Indoor cranes with igus Safe and fault-free cable guidance is extremely important for the functional safety and accuracy of a machine tool. As the demands with regard to travel or speed are continually increasing, the stresses that cables have to cope with are also steadily increasing. This is exactly where there is a need for the chainflex DriveCliq cable with 300V UL certification.
