Smovee - the electric scooter with a difference

Initiated by Sachs-Bikes, Norbert Staffend started the student project with the main task "motorised two-wheeler". The result was this purist, elegant e-scooter.

Even before the start of the public discussion about battery-powered vehicles and the awakening of the car manufacturers, the initial plans were developed and preliminary models were produced. However, without a budget in the millions and only with the help of a few sponsors, as well as a lot of hard work, this motorised 1:1 prototype was then created. Nimble, affordable and chic - formally based on
the classic pedal scooter, it seems immediately familiar. Compared to its rivals, it seems much tidier and
doesn't want to be more than it is - a fun and economical means of transportation for short to medium distances.
All the technology is integrated into the frame profile, the motor sits on the drive hub and even the handlebars lack the
usual tangle of cables.

Until now, the model was exhibited in the six-week exhibition "Samples" in the museum "Prototype Collection of Mobile Culture" in Hamburg. It will also be on display at "Ars Electronica" in Linz in September 2010. The iglidur® G plain bearings are optimally used in the load-bearing component, the folding mechanism between the handlebar and chassis.
A big thank you to igus® and the other sponsors and hard-working helpers.
