Selective laser sintering (SLS) material: iglidur® i3-PL

The iglidur® i3-PL material, specially developed for laser sintering, showed an abrasion resistance 3 to 30 times better than conventional materials for laser sintering in the tribological tests in the igus® test laboratory. As a result, the degrees of freedom are further increased when designing wear-stressed sliding components. It is used for  all  sliding applications, as well as rollers, racks, spur gears and bevel gears.

When to use it?

• For all types of applications where low friction and high wear resistance are important
• When an easy to process laser sintering material with high strength is required
• When components with high mechanical strength are required, in particular spur gears, bevel gears, drive nuts, special slides and spherical bearings
• Very good wear properties with anodised aluminium as a counter partner

When not to use it?

• For use under water or with high humidity (→ iglidur i8-ESD)
• If components with ESD specifications are required (→ iglidur i8-ESD)
• For worm gear applications (→ iglidur i6-PL)
• If a food grade material is required (→ iglidur i6-PL or iglidur i10-PL)
• If components with higher elasticity are required (→ iglidur i10-PL)
• If the application temperature is higher than 80°C in the long term (→ iglidur A350-PF or iglidur RW370-PF)
