Future Talent
Our apprenticeships are varied and there is something here for everyone, from AAT, Business Administration, CIPD, Customer Service to Engineering apprenticeships.
Once apprentices have completed their courses, they can move onto the igus Graduate Program or may have the opportunity to become an igus employee. The Apprentice Program is to level 3 (or A level) and the Graduate Program is to degree level. These two programs have different support systems and benefits attached to them.
“I joined igus straight after college after completing a Diploma in Applied Science. My career began with a level 3 SHE Technician course which I completed in 16 months. I then progressed to the PIEMA Environmental Management course, taking around 8 months. Currently, I’m undertaking a Degree Apprenticeship in Chartered Management at the University of Northampton, which helping me to develop a wide range of transferrable skills that I can apply in all aspects of life. I started in the Systems department, supporting safety, sustainability facility management. Today, I’m part of the i-People team where I assist with human resources. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had at igus and look forward to growing further and progressing my career.” - Gemma
In addition to this, we support the wider business in their development and encourage furthering their skillset. There are a range of courses team members have carried out or a training for, alongside their day to day job. Some of these qualifications include English language, Master of Business Administration MBA, Accounting and Human Resources.

Northants Engineering Training Programme
The Northants Engineering Training Partnership (NETP) is a partnership of engineering companies in the Northants region that have linked-up with the University of Northampton and we are lucky enough to be one of those companies. “Being part of the NETP was beneficial as it enabled me to start an internship with igus UK and gain deep theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience in the automation and robotics industry. yes – the young engineers support from igus. The Young Engineers Support (YES) is another initiative of igus. Within the yes initiative, igus supports pupil and student projects with free samples, sponsorships, and consultations. For example, yes sponsors Formula Student Teams in Germany and worldwide with its lightweight and lubrication-free plain bearing technology.
Ex-military at igus®
We recognise that there are many transferable skills between ex-military personnel and igus.
As a result of this, we have a range of long-term serving employees that are ex-military, who have successful succeeded in the civilian job market through opportunities with us.

We would not be where we are today without our strong team of workers, which is why we prioritise creating a happy and healthy environment for all to work in.
We have accomplished this by creating a health, safety and wellbeing team, led by those who have a passion for wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, charity events and improving the safety culture. Everyone at igus has the opportunity to voice their opinions and be a part of every event we run, which include various businesses and charities across Northamptonshire.
Since creating this group, we have:
- Introduced a range of wellbeing activities, including a fitness bootcamp and Pilates sessions, to support colleagues in staying active and healthy.
- Raised funds and donated items to a variety of charities through multiple fundraising initiatives, supporting both local and wider causes.
- Launched creative classes such as knitting, art sessions, candle making and other craft activities to promote creativity, relaxation, and social connection.
SURE statement
SURE (Safety Unit and Risk Elimination) is a new business team led collaboratively, where each member takes it in turn to take the wheel. Its members are based across multiple departments, and its remit is to make our workplace and local area a more sustainable and safer environment, creating a culture that all staff will thrive in. This will be achieved by improving the health & safety, and wellbeing of our igus employees.
