Maintenance-free entirely without lubrication - rollers for rolling knife edges by igus

With knife edge rollers made of iglidur high-performance polymers you not only transfer goods from one conveyor belt to another without damage. You also protect them against contamination from lubricants and abrasion. At the same time, you increase maintenance intervals and save costs in procurement.

Wear test in the test laboratory

Tumble test rig: load 1N/mm2, speed 0.3m/s

To give you precise details on the wear rate of our knife edge rollers, these are examined under realistic conditions in our test laboratory. Four different iglidur materials as well as PET-P and POM-C were tested. To also make statements regarding the wear behaviour depending on the shaft materials, knife edge rollers were tested on V2A and silver steel shafts.

Use in food processing

It is not only raw bakery products that present the machine manufacturer in the food sector with considerable challenges. If two conveyor belts are butt-jointed to each other, the radii of the guide rollers result in a gap between the two belts. The risk: sensitive products, such as raw pasta products, simply slide into the gap between the conveyor belts.

To transfer these products safely from belt to belt, the deflection radii of the conveyor belts and the gap between the belts must be kept as small as possible.

Applications in the packaging industry

It takes more than conveyor belts that are as seamless as possible to transport products and goods such as bottles or jars. Contamination of the bearings and rollers, for example, through glass dust, presents a problem. Furthermore, lubricants should not pollute the transported products. Here, iglidur knife edge rollers ensure a fail-safe and low-friction transport.
