iglidur® guide rings are used as bearings to protect pistons and rods from wear in hydraulics and pneumatics. Applications include gas springs, dampers as well as pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. The iglidur® high-performance plastics used ensure lowest coefficients of friction, as well as optimal running and wear behaviour and withstand even high mechanical loads.

By using corrosion-free iglidur® plain bearings, the corrosion problem was solved. Due to their low wear values, the plastic piston rings also impressed during tests in Otto Bock's in-house laboratory. Further advantages are: dirt and dust deposits do not affect the piston rings and therefore do not impair the function of the prosthetic knee joints. Additionally, they are silent when in operation.
A piston ring made of iglidur® J is used to mount the valve head when emptying bottles. This is resistant to chemicals and offers low moisture absorption. In addition, the piston ring is easy to install and is reverse compatible. This allowed the surrounding structure to remain unchanged. These bearings have now been the Rink standard for some years - especially as they are available quickly and cost-effectively as catalogue parts.
The iglidur® piston rings not only help bearings function completely lubrication-free, but are also characterised by the best sliding properties and their chemical resistance. Higher efficiencies and less maintenance are achieved. The use of iglidur® piston rings and dryspin® lead screw technology ensures slow opening and closing of the valve.
