Harnessed Drive Cliq cables

Siemens made the Drive Cliq interface available to encoder manufacturers back in 2010. With Drive Cliq technology, parameterisation and control data is transmitted between drive components. The ready-to-connect Drive Cliq cable from igus® for use in an energy chain consists of a high-quality chainflex® data cable and the Y-Con 40 PP connector from Yamaichi.

Another highlight of this technology is Power over Ethernet (PoE). This enables the network client to be powered via the Ethernet cable. Devices with low power consumption such as VoIP telephones or network cameras can be operated with a single cable thanks to PoE - there is no need for a separate power supply. This saves costs and reduces installation effort. The Y-Con Cover 40 was replaced in 2022 by the Y-Con 40 PP, which is 100% backwards compatible with the old Y-Con Cover 40.

Special feature of the plug-in connector

Another special feature of this data cable harnessed with the Yamaichi Y-Con 40 PP is that the RJ45 specification also includes two additional, fully integrated contacts for the power supply. This means that the industrial plug-in connector for Industrial Ethernet, Profinet and field bus can reliably transmit up to 3.1A without an additional power supply.

Peculiarity of the cable

Behind the pre-assembled Drive Cliq cable is a measuring system cable that is usually easy to recognise on every drive unit thanks to its bright green colour. This colour originates from DESINA and is now also established outside of the machine tool. It is used for signal feedback from the encoder system to the frequency inverter and is sometimes called the tacho cable or encoder cable. It contains many data wires for signal transmission. The various signals generated by the encoder represent the exact movement of the motor and are transmitted with it. As a rule, however, the cable not only transports the data of the encoder system, but also realises the power supply of the encoder in the case of Drive Cliq.

What is monoblock technology?

Only one insert is installed per connector housing. We offer these plug-in connectors in housing sizes 6B, 10B, 16B and 24B.
The plug-in connectors of the Han® EE series are designed for 500 V contamination degree 3 when fully assembled. A modified contact arrangement allows use in the same degree of contamination for higher voltages up to 1,000V. When the plug-in connectors are fully equipped, a higher reference voltage is also possible, but with a lower degree of contamination.

What does modular system mean?

Han-Modular^® combines several Harting connector modules within one housing. It is possible to combine signals, power, data and even pneumatics all in one connector housing.
The standard housing sizes remain the same and instead of a monoblock, various inserts can be combined within one housing.
In addition, space requirements are reduced, as the number of housings is reduced and functionality is increased at the same time.

The Automation Initiative of German Automobile Manufacturers (AIDA) has defined guidelines for cabling between the control cabinet, the robot base and the moving robot axes. igus® readycable® follows this standard for robot cabling in the automotive industry and now offers ready-to-connect chainflex® cables for safe use in moving applications.

Simple and secure data communication in your plant

Digitalisation and data exchange have become an integral part of modern production. With just one wire pair in Single Pair Ethernet, igus® offers you the possibility of future-proof data exchange. Transmission rates of up to 1 Gbit/s are easily possible and the minimisation of the cable to just 1 wire pair offers you further advantages. The 25 % thinner cable compared to the CAT5e cable (CFBUS.PUR.045) allows you to save a lot of space in confined installation spaces, which has a major impact on dynamic movement sequences in the machinery.

The newly developed, industrial-grade connectors from Yamaichi and Weidmüller offer an excellent shield connection and thus reduce electromagnetic interference (electromagnetic compatibility).
