Long travel distances always pose special requirements on an energy chain system. From a certain point, the upper run needs to be able to slide on the lower run or on the glide bar. The energy chain system also requires guidance to prevent lateral misalignment. In most cases, this is ensured by a guide trough. However, there are also applications in which a guide trough is not required due to optical or spatial conditions. In order to cover this gap, igus® developed the autoglide system in 1995. autoglide e-chains® are self-guiding energy chains that do not require a guide trough and can travel up to 80 metres. You save on procurement and installation costs and can keep lanes in the hall free for forklifts or industrial trucks.

Choosing the right power supply system can be complex due to varying options and operating conditions. This whitepaper helps you compare solutions and shows how igus® energy chains offer superior resistance to abrasion and corrosion compared to steel.
