Energy chains and cables for long service life of port cranes

Heavy loads, long periods of use, and a wide variety of weather conditions - cranes in port facilities must perform at their best. And that is exactly where our energy chains and flexible cables are being used. They have proven themselves for years in over 10,000 ports with their corrosion-free, maintenance-free materials offering a long service life. The fields of application include, among others, ship-to-shore cranes, bulk material handling cranes, RTGs, RMGs, ASCs, spreaders and reach stackers. Wherever safety must be ensured and there is pressure to meet deadlines, e-chains are a reliable, quiet alternative to busbar systems, festooning and cable drums.

Energy chain systems instead of festooning, motor cable drums and busbars

Energy chains systems instead of festooning Energy chain system instead of festooning
In wind and fluctuating temperatures, cables are protected and safely guided by energy chains. Downtimes are minimised as a result.
Energy chain systems instead of motor cable drums Energy chain systems instead of motor cable drums
No slip ring on long travels. Guide all media safely in one system. Travels of up to 1,000 metres.
Energy chain systems instead of busbar systems Energy chain systems instead of busbar systems
Deliver data, energy, fluids and air safely in a single energy chain system. For narrow compact spaces and fast lane movement.

Successful applications on port cranes

STS crane

Fail-safe energy supply

Since this crane stands alone in a port, the energy supply system had to be particularly fail-safe. Another requirement was noise reduction, as the port is in close proximity to a residential area.
STS crane

From festooning to energy chains

With this ship unloading crane, the entire crane girder can be moved vertically. The previous energy supply system with free-hanging cables was vulnerable in wind and maintenance-intensive. By contrast, cables are safely guided today with e-chains.
